Dear self, for your second year of college:
1. Learn everything possible about studio lighting. It’s the thing you really wanted to learn about when you started college and you’re still kind of amateur in the studio.
2. Use the studios more. You paid all that money to use the studios over the summer and you never even stepped foot in there. What an idiot.
3. Actually learn how to use a light meter properly instead of dicking around.
4. Actually learn how to use a flash (and multiple flashes) properly instead of dicking around.
5. Shoot more portraits. You love animals and nature, but you really need more practice with people.
6. Get out of your comfort zone. You have a tendency to stick with the things you know and you’re never going to grow and get better if you do that.
7. Shoot more.
8. Talk to more people.
9. Actually do your homework on time. Or do your assignments when they’re assigned instead of leaving them to the last minute.
10. Ask more questions. Stop being afraid of asking for help.A reminder to myself, because I’m failing at following my own advice.
